The small print
Cookie policy
The short version
We only use cookies to understand how people find our website and to measure whether our ads work. They're switched off unless you say yes, and you can change your mind at any time.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser. Some are needed for a site to work; others help the owner see how the site is used.
Cookies we use (only with your consent)
- Google Analytics (for example
_gaand_ga_*, kept for up to 2 years). These tell us how many people visit, which pages they look at and roughly how they found us, such as a Google search or a social media post. We see this as totals and trends, not as named individuals. - Google Ads (for example
_gcl_au, kept for around 90 days, plus cookies Google sets on its own domains). These help us see whether someone who clicked one of our ads went on to get in touch, and can let Google show our ads to people who've visited before.
Google provides these services. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services at policies.google.com.
Nothing is set until you choose
When you first visit, a banner asks whether that's OK. Until you click Accept, Google Analytics and Google Ads cookies aren't set. If you click Reject, they stay off. Either way, we save your answer in your browser (under the name hpm_consent) so we don't ask you on every page. This is strictly necessary to remember your choice, so it isn't itself a tracking cookie.
Changing your choice
You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page, or the button below. If you switch from Accept to Reject, we'll stop using these cookies and remove the ones already set on this site. You can also clear cookies in your browser settings.
